Meet Ayn

Ayn rhymes with Irvine!

Ayn Craciun is a distinguished community leader, environmental health advocate, successful businesswoman, and dedicated working mom. She has a proven track record of advocating for changes that safeguard health and deliver lasting community benefits.

Ayn believes that government should serve the people and small businesses rather than special interests or corporate donors. She has actively spoken out against local public agency corruption, earning recognition from the Orange County Register in 2023 as one of the most influential people in Orange County.

Ayn chairs the City of Irvine Sustainability Commission and serves as the OC Policy Director for a nonprofit climate policy watchdog, ensuring transparency and accountability in local government climate actions. She played a crucial role in founding the Orange County Power Authority, which introduced clean energy choices to the area for the first time. Additionally, Ayn was instrumental in establishing Irvine's policy to eliminate fossil gas use in new buildings and the recent ban on gas-powered leaf blowers.

Ayn is a passionate advocate for safe, climate-friendly transportation. In 2023, she helped secure safe bus transportation for University High School students from southeast Irvine for the first time.

In 2016, after discovering that three children in Quail Hill had been diagnosed with brain tumors, Ayn co-founded Non Toxic Irvine with other parents and UCI scientists. Their efforts led to the adoption of an organic landscaping policy in Irvine, recognized for excellence by the California Environmental Protection Agency. Ayn authored a guide to help communities across the U.S. adopt similar policies.

Ayn collaborates with numerous environmental, small business, religious, and community organizations to support vital local climate policies. She champions safety, equality, and the protection of freedoms for all races, ethnicities, religions, sexual orientations, and gender identities.

As a former HOA president, Ayn ensured balanced budgets and well-managed community services. She is also a past president of the Southeast Irvine MOMS Club, former PTA committee chair, and a frequent room mom at her children’s elementary school.

Ayn and her husband Joe, an attorney and small business owner, have lived in Quail Hill for 20 years. Their two school-aged children attend Irvine public schools.
