Ayn Craciun, Candidate for Irvine City Council District 4, Receives Democratic Party of Orange County Early Endorsement

IRVINE, CA - Last week, Ayn Craciun’s campaign for Irvine City Council District 4 received an important endorsement from the Democratic Party of Orange County (DPOC). Craciun is currently the only candidate running for Irvine City Council who has received an early endorsement from the DPOC for the November 5, 2024 election.

“I’m honored to receive this early endorsement from the DPOC. We’re running a people-powered campaign to create a safer and more sustainable future for Irvine residents. I’m thankful to have this support from fellow Democrats as we gear up for a busy summer campaign season,” said Craciun.

Craciun is the Chair of the City of Irvine’s Sustainability Commission. She works as the OC Policy Director for an environmental nonprofit, and in 2023 was named one of the most influential people in Orange County by the Orange County Register.

Craciun has earned the endorsement of prominent Orange County Democrats, including U.S. Representative Katie Porter of the 47th Congressional District, who is known for fighting to put families first, ahead of corporate interests. “I’m glad the DPOC has given Ayn this coveted early endorsement. Ayn is committed to protecting hard-working Irvine families and our environment. Ayn will stand up to the corporate special interests that have exerted their influence over local politics for far too long,” said Porter.

Ada Briceño, Chairwoman of the Democratic Party of Orange County, also spoke in support of the endorsement, saying, “Ayn Craciun is a bold leader, running a strategic, grassroots campaign for a stronger Irvine. Ayn will provide the thoughtful and people-centered leadership that Irvine families deserve.”

“Ayn is a well-respected environmental and community leader with a proven track record of winning policies that improve quality of life for people in cities throughout Orange County. I will be thrilled to have her join me as a council colleague,” said Dr. Kathleen Treseder, Irvine City Councilmember and UC Irvine climate professor.

Craciun will be on the November ballot as Irvine holds its first-ever district-based election. Craciun is running to represent District 4, which includes the southeast Irvine neighborhoods of Hidden Canyon, Irvine Spectrum, Laguna Altura, Los Olivos, Oak Creek, Orange Tree, Quail Hill, Shady Canyon, Turtle Ridge and Turtle Rock.
